Enjoy water sports, free diving and snorkeling on this charming beach. There is also a surf break frequented by locals and tourists just beyond the reef. The protected beach, clear calm water and many options for dining and water play make this an ideal spot for a fun family day in the sun, or a romantic getaway. Getting here is a 10 minute trip by water taxi. Water taxis are found by the pier on the main beach.
Playa La Ropa
Recently awarded "One of the best, most romantic beaches to visit in Mexico" by TripAdvisor. Perfect for swimming, paddle boarding, and water sports as well as a stunning hike from end to end. Find the uphill pathway which leads into town or back down the hill for an excellent leg and glute workout. Enjoy great restaurants and beachfront dining as you take in magnificent sunsets. Stay for dinner and plenty of live music offered by the many talented local musicians, dancing is encouraged! If your a music lover, you won't want to leave.
Legends abound! La Ropa (The Clothing) is based on history. Sometime in the late 17th century a Galleon making its way from the orient became shipwrecked, releasing it's cargo of fine fabrics and silks along the longest beach in Zihuatanejo bay, thus christening the beach La Ropa.
Playa La Madera named such because fine tropical woods , including Oak, Cedar, and Walnut were loaded onto ships heading to ports around the world. There is also a legend, of a ship wrecked that left wood scattered along this beach. On Playa Madera you'll find fine restaurants and friendly people on a short stretch of shallow beach with high surf. A very safe and family friendly beach.
From Madera you can walk into town following the cement walkway that runs along the surf and winds around to bridges and cobblestone walkways.
